Popular Meeting Points in Bratislava
Each city inhabitants have their favourite places to meet. Bratislava is no different. This short guide to meeting places should help you meet your friends easily in the town. There are few favourite meeting points in Bratislava that you should know about.
Fountain at Main Square (Hlavne namestie)
Roland's Fountain located in the Eastern part of the Main Square is the most common meeting point among Bratislavians coming to the Old Town. It is easily to spot anyone standing by the fountain in the winter or sitting at the benches nearby during the summer. Main Square is also a very lively square, so there are lot of people just passing through and you could even bump into some acquaintances of yours easily there.
How to get there
By trams going to the city centre, get off at either stop:
Jesenskeho (no. 4, 11, 12, 13, 14) - walk straight forward turning to the right by the Opera/National Theatre, turn right passing by McDonald's and going straight. First large square is the Main square with the fountain you are looking for.
Namestie SNP (no. 6, 7) - cross the street to the Old Market, then walk through Klobucnicka street, passing Primatial Square (Primacialne namestie) and arriving to Main Square.
Postova (no. 5, 9) - cross the street going to the Michael's Tower and passing under the Old Town gate until you are by the large 'Korzo' stone on the ground, truning left. First large square is the Main square with the fountain you are looking for.
By buses going to the city centre, get off at the following stops:
Safarikovo namestie (no. 50, 95) - walk by the tram tracks to the busy intersection turning left, walk straight forward turning to the right by the Opera/National Theatre, turn right passing by McDonald's and going straight. First large square is the Main square with the fountain you are looking for.
New Bridge terminus (no. 29, 30, 37, 70, 88, 90, 191 - cross through Hviezdoslavovo square and then turn left by the Opera/National Theatre passing by McDonald's and going straight. First large square is the Main square with the fountain you are looking for.
Zochova/Staromestska (no. 31, 39, 80, 83, 84, 93, 94) - cross the underground passage if required and continue to the right walking under tram track turning left at the end passing under the houses, then straight forward. First large square is the Main square with the fountain you are looking for.
Fountain at Hviezdoslav Square (Hviezdoslavovo namestie)
Another popular meeting point is the fountain located in front of the National Theatre - Opera building at Hviezdoslavovo square in Bratislava (Be sure not to mistake it for the Fountain of Slovak poet Hviezdoslav itself). Again, it is very nice just to sit on the circular stone corner of the fountain in the summer and enjoy sun and watching passerbys while waiting for your friends.
How to get there
By trams going to the city centre, get off at either stop:

Fountain at Hodza Square (Hodzovo namestie)
Hodzovo Square is a place of few dominants including the beautiful Presidential Palace (Grassalkovich's Palace), modern green building of a banking institution, Hotel Crowne Plaza (former Forum Hotel) and well-known Globe Fountain. Hodzovo Square (Peace Square then) Globe Fountain built during communist times used to be a symbol of peace in the world, but still nowadays it is very popular meeting place among young people. It is well understandable as there are plenty of public transport lines servicing Hodzovo square driving from the different parts of Bratislava including the largest one: Bratislava-Petrzalka.
How to get there
By buses going to Hodzovo Square directly (no. 34, 83, 84, 93) - the Globe Fountain is in the middle of the square, you may need to use the underground passage to get there.
By trolleybuses going to Hodzovo Square directly (no. 203, 206, 207, 208, 212) - the Globe Fountain is in the middle of the square, you may need to use the underground passage to get there.
Safarik Square (Safarikovo namestie)
Safarikovo namestie is one of the most crowded places in the Old Town as there are buses and trams serving both the employees returing from work and students leaving Comenius University. The bus line no. 50 servicing the Bus Station Mlynske Nivy and Aupark Shopping Mall stops there as well. The best place to meet anybody at Safarikovo Square is the red stand with food and drinks by the tram stop.

By trams going to Safarikovo Square directly (no. 12, 13, 14).
By buses going to Safarikovo Square directly (no. 50, 95).
Big Clock at Tesco Department Store
The big clock at Tesco Department Store is located at Kamenne square (Kamenne namestie). Although the square is not very attractive, it is very lively indeed with lot of people coming to do their shopping or stopping at the fast-food stalls waiting for hungry passerbys. The big clock is located at the store's wall facing Dunajska street. If you are meeting someone on full hour, you will even hear the bells playing some traditional Slovak songs. From Main train station to downtown/city centre:
4 minutes - bus no. 93 - get off at Hodzovo nam
12 minutes - tram no. 13 - get off at Jesenskeho stop (30-minute ticket required)
From Main train station to Petrzalka train station (connections to Vienna):
11 minutes - bus no. 93 - get off at ZST Petrzalka stop (30-minute ticket required)
From Main train station to Bus station:
10 minutes - trolleybus no. 210 - get off at end stop AS Mlynske Nivy
From Main train station to the Bratislava Airport:
20 minutes - bus no. 61 - get off at end stop Letisko
